Vietnam Fishtallation is the second iteration of a fish market installation that specifically contemplates a relationship to Vietnamese heritage without growing up in Vietnam. When land is displaced and language lost, cuisine is a direct connection back to roots; to the spices and herbs, to the culture and identity. The US Fishtallation (2014) initiated an intersection between where our food comes from within and beyond mass production. Learn more.
The visual stimulation of fish triggered memories—nostalgic moments in time. Collected responses from the on-site activation ranged from preservation, recipes, displacement, diaspora and tradition.
